Ross is the perfect place to stay.... whether you want to explore our fabulous natural environment, share our interesting heritage and culture or just relax and absorb the atmosphere. Our unique microclimate results in plenty of warm sunny days, and we are in easy driving distance of glaciers, magnificent lakes and much, much more.
Hospitality
We have boutique bed and breakfast, hotel and backpacker accommodation. For
campsites enquire at the Empire Hotel.
Meals, snacks and takeaways are available from the Empire Hotel and the
Roddy Nugget Bar and Cafe. Groceries and snacks can be found at the Ross
General Store.
Art and Craft
Ross is home to numerous artists and craftspeople, with some studios open to
the public.
Take your time and browse the work of our jade carver, sculptor, painters
and folk artists. Be sure to set aside some time to visit the curio room,
where an exciting collection of relics and treasures is on display.
Outdoor Recreation
Ross is a paradise for those with a love of the great outdoors. Walk the old
railway line or
explore our wild beach and spot the occasional basking seal. Take a drive up the scenic
Totara Valley or climb Mt Greenland to see some amazing views and find the
old quartz mine.
If you enjoy walking, tramping, hunting, fishing, mountain biking,
kayaking or just absorbing
beautiful scenery, then you will love Ross.
The Information Centre team are happy to help with any enquiries.
Please remember to be safe in the outdoors, check weather forecasts, dress
warmly
and always tell someone where you're going and when you'll be back.
